Design is an expression of empathy.
Whether it's interacting with an intuitive interface or picking up a perfectly shaped mug, good design makes us feel understood.
Design is able to bring moments of joy, satisfaction, and ease into our lives. As a human-centered designer, I'm dedicated to creating those kind of experiences.
I'm a third year design student at Miami University double-majoring in Communication Design and Emerging Technology in Business and Design. I've gained skills in graphic, web, and service design while also learning how to use research and data to inform my design decisions.
I've always loved to create, but I'm also fascinated by psychology and behavior. Design lets me combine my creativity with my interest in understanding people to make an impact. Developing meaningful experiences and collaborating with other creative people gives me purpose and makes me excited to design.
Before design, fine art was my first love. My respect for artistry and craft have played a big role in shaping who I am as a designer, and I'm always looking for ways to use fine art influences and techniques in my work. Lately, I've been really enjoying illustration and printmaking!
One of my core values, both in life and in my practice as a designer, is balance.
I believe good design can be understood without effort and innovative without alienating people. Balancing usability and artistry is how I create work that not only looks good but is also intuitive and effective.
When I'm not designing, I enjoy watching movies, learning new songs on guitar, knitting, and playing violin in a quartet with my friends.
"A designer tries to make an object as naturally as a tree puts forth a leaf." BRUNO MUNARI
